“In the Outdoor Shirahama Shihara Kaigan” is blessed with magnificent nature, and we thought of a way to experience the nature of this place even more, and one of the answers we came up with was a traditional Finnish sauna.
“Aalto” is the Finnish word for “wave”. As the name suggests, you can spend a luxurious time entrusting yourself to nature while listening to the sound of waves, wind, and the fluctuations of nature. [Image 2
A traditional Finnish sauna that sharpens your five senses.
To create “Sauna Aalto,” the owner, who is also a sauna enthusiast, spent 7 days visiting saunas in Finland, the home of saunas. The traditional Finnish sauna I experienced there was very simple and comfortable.
The building is a log cabin, and the interior is heated by stones heated by a wood stove. Roryu is soft, comfortable and warms your body from the core. You can unwind while enjoying the sounds and scents of nature and conversations with the people next to you.
At “Sauna Aalto”, you can feel all four elements of nature: earth, water, air (wind), and fire, and use your five senses sharpened by the sauna to appreciate the natural beauty and richness of the Shihara Coast, and the deliciousness of the cuisine. You will be able to feel it even more.

With the theme of “further evolving Japanese outdoor saunas,” we have created a sauna that combines the “comfort” of a Finnish sauna with the “comfort” of a Japanese sauna.
The sauna hut is a log cabin made with plenty of Kishu lumber and equipped with a domestic wood stove. You can relax with aromatic water at your own timing on a stove filled with sauna stones.
The interior is moderately dark, allowing you to spend a relaxing time listening to the sound of burning firewood, the sounds of nature outside, the fluctuation of the air, and the scent of nature. [Image 4
The top tier is a little wider, so you can lie down, cross-legged, or whatever position you like.
Coleman zero-gravity chairs are installed in a large space directly above the Shihara Beach and an observation deck that overlooks the ocean, a short walk from the sauna. While listening to the sound of the waves and the voices of birds, you can also see the starry sky at sunset and at night.
The water bath is custom-made with a water depth of 130cm, and a chiller is also installed to adjust the water temperature to an optimal temperature of 14℃ to 17℃.

In addition, we also offer sauna meals unique to glamping facilities. We offer meals made with seasonal ingredients such as makkara (sausage), skillet dishes, bread, and desserts.

In order for you to experience the sauna to the fullest, which is filled with a lot of attention to detail, we have hired Mai Shimada as the manager.
As a sauna lover, I have experience working in sauna facilities, and will guide you through the comfortable world of saunas according to your needs, such as how to enter the sauna, how to do the ro-ryu, adjust the temperature in the room, and even perform whisking treatments.
Whether you are a sauna lover or a beginner, we aim to create a sauna that will warm your body and mind from the core.
■Mai Shimada
Born in Nachikatsuura-cho, Wakayama Prefecture. After living in a room without a bathtub, he began to like saunas at public bathhouses. I was attracted not only to the inherent comfort of a sauna, but also to the way it naturally sparked conversations and made friends, regardless of age or job title.With the desire to convey the charm of saunas to Wakayama, I decided to make a U-turn from Tokyo to Wakayama in 2022. . As part of our activities to spread the word about saunas to local people, we hold “Behavior Saunas,” and publish a picture book about saunas called “Mokumoku Sauna,” which we read aloud at local nursery schools and libraries.

“In the Outdoor Shirahama Shihara Kaigan” opened in May 2022 in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture. Our company, which has been operating a campground in Kushimoto Town, Wakayama Prefecture, for over 30 years, created this glamping facility based on our desire to serve as a gateway to the outdoors.
The majestic Pacific Ocean stretches out in front of you, you can walk around Shihara Beach and Torige Cave, and at night you can see a starry sky.
The meal is a grilled BBQ course supervised by the chef. The BBQ menu changes with the seasons, using local seasonal ingredients.
The ingredients are already prepared and seasoned, so customers can enjoy finishing cooking on the grill.

We offer three types of accommodation: cabins (cottages), glamping tents, and trailer houses. We also have barrier-free rooms and rooms with dog runs, so we can accommodate a variety of groups.
