The student group of Otemon Gakuin University (abbreviation: Oidai, Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, President: Masahiro Shindo), which is celebrating its 14th year of holding a candle night event to light candles, just opened on December 9th. At the Ibaraki City Central Park North Ground, which is located across from the Ibaraki City cultural and child-rearing complex “Onikuru”, we will hold a space production using candles, “Oidai Candle Night 2023~Happiness~”.
This event is held once a year by Oidai Candle Night, a
university-recognized student group made up of 52 students, at the university campus since 2009, and will be held at the Ibaraki Sojiji campus in 2021. More than 1000 people attended. This year’s event will be sponsored by Ibaraki City and will be held off-campus for the first time.

The theme is “Happiness,” and approximately 5,000 candles and 21 objects will be installed on the grounds of Central Park, with the hope that many people who have suffered hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic will find happiness. In the center are message candles made with people who attended the school festival and Ibaraki Festival, and on the outside are eight candle objects with motifs of “hapines” that students have imagined for weddings, Christmas, musicals, etc. Set up. Additionally, there will be an exhibition of candles made from paper bags made by children from nearby
kindergartens and Otemon Gakuin Kindergarten, which will illuminate the entire venue with light.
Additionally, the first 300 people who respond to the survey on the day will receive a drawstring bag featuring Honoo-chan, the official character of Oidai Candle Night.
