In conjunction with Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) from Monday, December 4, 2023 to Sunday, December 10, 2023, the NPO Programming Education Research Institute (Chairman: Koichi Ito), an American non-profit organization, As part of a global campaign hosted by Code.org, “First Time Programming: Hour of Code 2023” will be held in Kita-ku, Tokyo.
I hope that many elementary and junior high school students will experience Hour of Code and use it as an opportunity to start learning programming.

Code.org “Frozen” will be played. It’s okay even if you’re new to programming. Date and time: December 10, 2023 (Sunday) 10:00-11:00
Location: Kita Ward Akabane Cultural Center (JR Akabane Station West Exit, Pal Road II Vibio 3rd floor)

■What is Hour of Code?
“Hour of Code” (https://hourofcode.com/) is a worldwide initiative of the American non-profit organization “Code.org” (https://code.org/). This is an activity to spread programming education. Approximately 500 million children and students around the world participate in the global campaign held every December in conjunction with CSEdWeek. ■What is Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek)?
Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek, https://www.csedweek.org/) was started by the American Society for Computing Machinery (ACM) in 2009 to encourage children from kindergarten through high school to study computer science. It’s action week.
It is held every year during the week of Grace Hopper’s birthday (December 9, 1906), who invented the world’s first compiler language and coined the term “bug” to mean a defect in a program. It will be held from December 4th (Monday) to December 10th (Sunday).

The NPO Programming Education Research Institute will hold the “1st Tokyo Programming Contest for Children to Shine
(https://j-code.org/contest/)” work exhibition and award ceremony as follows. Anyone is welcome to stop by.
