He became the first Asian to perform a gospel solo at Second AME Church in Los Angeles. The Black Church received high praise as a miraculous voice that changed its 220-year history. Their 1st album “RAINBOW” was a huge hit selling 150,000 copies and debuted at number 2 on Oricon. The following year’s 2nd album “Music is My Life” also reached the Oricon Top 5 for the second time in a row. On the album “The Best of Soul Extreme”, she collaborated with Japan’s leading artists AI, Daichi Miura, Akiko Wada, and CHARA, as well as British singer Leona Lewis. He was the first Asian to be selected as the 6th vocalist of SWEETBOX, and the title song “#Z21” of the released album “#Z21” reached number 1 on the UK dance chart. In 2014, became independent from Sony Music Records. Currently, he has established his own new label “UPOPO Rcords”.
