On December 3, 2023, the “22nd One-day Salon for People with Disabilities” (sponsored by Kawanishi City Federation of Disabled People’s Organizations, supported by Kawanishi City) will be held at Kisera Kawanishi Plaza (Hiuchi). On the day of the event, there was a screening of the movie “Futari – The Light That Calls You”, sales by organizations and businesses for people with disabilities, a bazaar, and a sign language experience corner.

The event will be held in conjunction with Disabled Persons Week from December 3rd to December 9th. The aim is to increase the interest and understanding of the welfare of people with disabilities among the general public, and to increase the motivation of people with disabilities to actively participate in social, economic, cultural, and other fields.

On the day of the event, there will be a screening of the short (45 minute) film “Futari – The Light That Is You”, which sheds light on siblings with disabilities and provides an opportunity to think about having a family member with a disability (10:30 a.m.).・Three screenings at noon and 2 p.m. (first 120 people); sales of cookies and handmade miscellaneous goods by organizations and businesses for people with disabilities in the city; a bazaar selling clothes and books; and a sign language experience corner. It was held.
One participant said, “I’ve always been interested in sign language, but I’ve never had the chance to try it.” I was taught sign language at the venue, and I wanted to have a conversation with someone in sign language.”

The head of the City’s Disability Welfare Division said, “Thanks to the hard work of everyone at the Kawanishi City Federation of Disabled Persons’ Organizations, many people came to the event, and I think it was a very successful event.Through the film, people with disabilities can be seen by their families. I would be happy if I could make you realize how difficult it is to provide support and the importance of understanding from those around you.”
