This is the first time in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the third airport in the Kanto area, following Narita Airport and Haneda Airport. This is the only Wi-Fi service that can be rented at Ibaraki Airport, and this allows international travelers from Japan and foreign tourists visiting Japan from overseas to use Ibaraki Airport, as well as international travelers who connect at New Chitose Airport or Fukuoka Airport. It can now be used by people traveling to Japan.

“WiFiBOX” is a new overseas Wi-Fi rental service released by our company on April 1, 2022. Not only can you rent it for as low as 300 yen (tax included), which is by far the lowest price in the industry, you can pick it up and return it unattended, with unlimited plans available not only in Japan but also in approximately 130 countries and regions around the world, the largest number in the industry. This is an automatic rental service for mobile Wi-Fi routers (patent pending). A charging cable is stored in the device, and the mobile battery and Wi-Fi function are integrated, pursuing convenience that eliminates the need for extra luggage. In addition, our service design, which has multiple effects in many areas, was highly praised and received the 2022 Good Design Award.
Currently, in addition to major airports nationwide such as Narita Airport, Haneda Airport, and Kansai International Airport, we also provide services in cities and commercial facilities such as Tokyo Station, tourist information centers in Shinjuku and Shibuya, and Shinjuku Mylord, and are gradually expanding nationwide. We are doing so. Now, it has been decided that a new WiFi BOX will be installed on the 1st floor of the Ibaraki Airport terminal building, and the WiFi BOX service will begin at 9:00 on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Installation background
Ibaraki Airport will have approximately 600,000 passengers in fiscal 2022, which is 213.2% compared to fiscal 2021, and has recovered to approximately 80% of its pre-coronavirus level. Domestic flights include flights to popular tourist destinations such as Naha and New Chitose, and international flights resumed on March 26, 2023 to Taipei for the first time in about three years, making them popular not only for domestic travel but also for inbound tourists. An increase in the number of foreign tourists is also expected.
In addition, Ibaraki Airport is located approximately 40 minutes by car from downtown Mito, and it is also approximately 40 minutes from Hitachi Seaside Park, one of Ibaraki Prefecture’s most popular tourist destinations. It takes about 50 minutes by car to reach “Paradise”. Furthermore, there are shuttle buses to various parts of the prefecture and Tokyo Station, making it a highly convenient airport for sightseeing and returning home.
We believe that the number of inbound foreign tourists using flights to Taipei will increase, as well as overseas travelers from Japan, business travelers, and travelers transiting overseas via New Chitose Airport and Fukuoka Airport. Therefore, we decided to install a WiFi BOX to meet the needs of users.
