Qiita Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nakamura-ku, Nagoya, CEO: Kensuke Shibata), a group company of Ateam Co., Ltd. that operates Japan’s largest engineering community “Qiita”, has 2,779 Qiita users. We conducted a questionnaire survey and published the “Engineer White Paper 2023” which summarizes the survey results. Every year, we publish the “Engineer White Paper,” which provides a comprehensive understanding of trends related to engineers, in order to advance the engineering industry.
*Note: “Largest” is an expression based on a comparison of the IT Human Resources White Paper (2020 edition) and the number of registered members and UU of our company, based on the online community where engineers gather as a market.

1. Engineer attributes: Engineers aged 18-34 account for about half (46%) of the total.
2. Language: The most used language for engineers remains JavaScript since 2020. 3. Work style: The percentage of fully remote workers will decrease by 10% compared to 2022.
4. Job change: When changing jobs, engineers focus on “salary,” “job content,” and “remote work availability.” Many companies that consider applying to the selection process are companies that have been introduced by an acquaintance or friend, or companies that have been scouted through a job change service.
5. Voluntary efforts to improve skills: The average daily study time on workdays is 30-60 minutes, which is the most common at 34.7%. Some survey results released

Visual Studio Code has been in first place since 2020 among tools and services used by engineers for programming. In addition, ChatGPT, which has generated a lot of buzz since its release in November 2022, ranked in second place.
