◆Overview
On November 13, 2023, the General Technology Department of Okayama University, a national university corporation (headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasutomo Nasu), will manage the technical staff organization, secure and upgrade human resources, and develop research equipment. We visited the Tokai National University Organization (*) Technology Center (Nagoya University) to exchange information on sharing and other matters.
This visit was conducted by Kentaro Takahama, General Core Facility Administrator (CFA) of the Tokai National University System, and Kakuro Hori, Manager of the Design, Fabrication and Social
Infrastructure Technology Division, Department of General Technology, at TC College, where Tokyo Institute of Technology serves as the administrative office. I was a student in the course, and that interaction made this possible.
From Okayama University, Director Yoshihiko Tamura of the General Technology Department, Director Masashi Abe of the Medical Technology Division, Director Hori, and technical staff Tsugumi Shiokawa of the Instrumental Analysis and Animal and Plant Resources Technology Division participated. From the Tokai National University System, Professor Tokuji Umehara, Director of Technology at the
University-wide Technology Center of Nagoya University, Professor Kaori Tanaka, Director of Technology at the University-wide Technology Center of Gifu University, Kazushi Koga, Director of the Technical Support Office at the General Technology Center, and CFA Takahama, etc. participated, discussed the current situation of both sides, and had a lively discussion about common issues and future prospects. Opinion exchange meeting
Next, they toured the Core Facility focused equipment at the Technology Center and exchanged information about Tokai National University Organization’s Core Facility management system and the role of the CFA. This was an important step in deepening common
understanding of issues and expanding the possibilities for
cooperation in order to further expand the opportunities for technical staff to play an active role in the future.
Regarding this visit, Director Hori said, “By exchanging opinions about the technical staff organizational structure and distinctive initiatives of each university, we made new discoveries and clarified issues for the management of the university’s general technology department. We would like to strengthen our collaboration with the Tokai National University Organization and other universities so that we can find solutions to even difficult problems.”
Okayama University’s Faculty of Integrated Technology will continue to promote inter-university exchanges, co-create the future of the region and the earth, and play a role in Okayama University, a research university that realizes social change.
