Tasha Tudor was an American picture book author, gardener, and doll maker who passed away in 2008. After he turned 50, he moved to Vermont, yearning for the self-sufficient life of a 19th century rural village. We grew seasonal flowers in our vast garden and maintained a lifestyle that used as little electricity as possible. Her way of life and words have impressed people all over the world, and she has many fans in Japan as well. And among those fans are people who practice Tasha’s life and words. This book introduces the lives of 12 people who loved and were influenced by Tasha. Gardeners, immigration, country dolls, and art. Each of them carries their own version of Tasha close to their hearts and lives each day to the fullest. His way of life, where he truly enjoys every day, is sure to be a wonderful message to everyone who picks up this book.

Ryoko Yamazaki sends messages via Instagram from her vast 200 tsubo garden, which is covered in deep snow in winter. In fact, he has an unnamed incurable disease and requires an electric wheelchair. She says she sometimes felt conflicted about having a garden like Tasha’s, but needing the latest technology, but she has come to realize that as long as she can live her life in her own way, even if it’s clumsy and ungainly, it’s okay. And I think that attitude is similar to Tasha’s spirit.

While living in a log house, he cultivated land using a yumbo. My husband and I now run a DIY cottage in the forest called Tsukutsu Mura.
