A service introducing the aluminum conductor cable “Rakuraku Aluminum Cable (R)*” developed and manufactured by Furukawa Electric Industrial Cable Co., Ltd. (President: Takamitsu Kozuka) and sold by SFCC Co., Ltd. (President: Yukio Kawase). The service will begin on November 1, 2023. This service is the first in the non-life insurance industry to introduce Rakuraku Aluminum Cable(R) to customers whose copper conductor cables from solar power generation equipment have been stolen. Background and purpose of service development: Against the backdrop of the continuing rise in the price of copper worldwide, large-scale theft incidents at solar power generation facilities that use large amounts of copper conductor cables have been occurring one after another. Although progress is being made in apprehending the culprits, the number of thieves is increasing rapidly, and Sompo Japan has estimated that insurance claims due to theft of solar power generation equipment in fiscal 2022 will be approximately four times that of fiscal 2020. This has become a major risk for solar power generation equipment.
