The religious corporation Enman-in (located in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, representative director Tetsuya Wada) is preparing for the opening of Enman-in Warabi Branch Columbarium “Argha” in September 2024 on Friday, December 1, 2023. We opened a model room in Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture.

The annual number of deaths in Japan exceeds 1.5 million, and is predicted to reach its peak of approximately 1.7 million in 2040 (*Survey by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare). On the other hand, due to changes in the social environment such as the aging of those who die, the lack of successors, and economic stagnation, the demand for graves with traditional gravestones has decreased, and the use of inexpensive “trees” that can provide a permanent memorial service with only the initial cost. Demand for burials, permanent memorial graves, and scattering of ashes at sea is increasing. As the number of inquiries about graves from related mourners continues to increase, we aim to solve the grave issue, which has become a social issue in recent years, and provide a state-of-the-art and comfortable worship environment that reduces the burden on heirs. I decided to build a columbarium.
Ahead of the opening of the Alga Ossuary in September 2024, we have opened a model room in Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture where you can see the full-size worship room. The graves in Kawaguchi City, Warabi City, and Toda City, Saitama Prefecture are almost sold out, making this a valuable ossuary that can only be purchased now. We accept advance consultations, so if you have any concerns about graves, please feel free to come to our model room.

On the roof, there is a garden ossuary with a tree burial type, the first of its kind in an ossuary, and a joint burial tombstone. Surrounded by greenery and flooded with light, the Garden Ossuary is an open space for visiting graves where the deceased can rest in peace, with consideration given to the surrounding environment. ◆Anyone can apply, regardless of religion or sect.

About Enman-in Temple
Enman-in Temple was established as a religious corporation in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1952 as the Nisonnen Buddhist Association. After that, the name of the religious corporation was changed to “Enman-in” and the main hospital was moved to Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture in 2019. In November 2020, we received approval from the Governor of Saitama Prefecture to establish a secondary office in Warabi City, and we are operating as an open temple for all people, regardless of sect or denomination.
