The way women live and work has become more diverse.
However, the current situation is that women inevitably experience life milestones such as marriage, pregnancy, and childbirth, and are sometimes forced to postpone what they want to do, or their ability to play an active role in society is restricted.
Illustrator Hiromi Eya has loved drawing ever since she was a child and wanted to help the world through her drawings, but she kept giving up on her dream because she believed that only special people could do it. Ta.
Then, just as she was about to get married and have children, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Life has a limit.”
I experienced this and started my second life.
I decided to do what I wanted to do in life with all my might, and started my own business as an illustrator from a housewife. Through my illustrations, I convey the message that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it.
The theme of this solo exhibition is “eating,” and he depicts the folds of memories and people’s feelings that are woven through food, sometimes comically and sometimes delicately. People who watch it empathize with it and say, “Oh yeah, that kind of thing happens, right?” or burst into laughter. This is a work that touches on people’s emotions and hearts through food.

* ■Hiromi Eya Biography*
Hiromi Eya
Travel illustrator living in Kobe
Born in 1980 in Fukuoka and raised in Kobe. She is a mother of two daughters and works as a travel illustrator. I love traveling and create art inspired by the colorful scenery and delicious food I encounter while traveling. Through his works, he aims to make the viewer feel “the feeling of having been there” or “the feeling of wanting to eat the food,” and to deliver art that is approachable. During my childhood, I was shy and had trouble expressing myself. He expressed his inner voice through painting. Winning an award at the World Children’s Art Exhibition at the age of 4 gave her a small boost of confidence, which has supported her subsequent creative activities. Influenced by the works of Japanese manga artists Akira Toriyama and Ai Yazawa, he specializes in colorful and gentle watercolor paintings. By using sparkling materials, I hope to deliver a sense of excitement to the hearts of the viewers.
When her daughters were young children, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and experienced recurrence twice, each time overcoming chemotherapy. During treatment, he blamed himself and almost forgot to enjoy life, but with the support of his family and friends, he was able to gradually regain a positive outlook. Because my family accepted me as I am, I learned the importance of valuing myself and enjoying life.
Currently, drawing and eating delicious food with loved ones are the driving forces in my life, and I am working on my creative activities with the hope of brightening the hearts of those who see them through my works and giving them courage. . They produce custom-made Yuiitsumuni works such as cafe menus, signboards, and illustrations upon request, bringing smiles to many customers’ faces.
