Idol Orchestra -Ioke-, which is known for its gorgeous performances that combine singing, music, and dance, will be holding a concert in Ebisu from Saturday, October 12th to Monday, October 14th, 2024, to commemorate their 4th anniversary. At the Echo Theater, the stage play “Ioke Musical” where Mr. Miyazaki fights against 11 people will be performed. We received a comment from Shiro Maeda, a playwright who heads the theater company Gotandadan and is writing and directing this performance.

When I was asked, “Do you want to do a musical?” I thought I answered, “I can’t do it,” but the title still had musical in it, so I thought, “What should I do?” When I met the Ioke members for the first time, everyone was too excited. I was troubled by thinking, “It’s impossible to make a musical, but it’s still a musical.” Who on earth called it a musical and why?
Rehearsals are about to begin in earnest, but it still doesn’t feel like a musical, and I still don’t understand the title we decided on together with the members, and when I ask, “Who is Mr. Miyazaki?”, no one can answer, Will he have to fight, or will he fight alongside Mr. Miyazaki? No, maybe they’ll fight against musicals.
I think it will be a play in which the eleven members perform as if they were going to a convenience store in casual clothes. I think there will be some exciting developments, but I don’t think it will be anything like The Theater. Please look at everyone from a different angle than usual.
This project is a unique initiative even for the battle-hardened Maeda. Prior to the actual rehearsal, the Ioke members who will be performing have been participating in a workshop with Maeda since July, and are rehearsing etudes (improvisational theater) to hone their expressive skills.
The key visual for the performance and the members’ expressive solo cuts have now been released.
Tickets for the performance will go on sale on a first-come, first-served basis at Confetti and E from 20:00 on Friday, September 6th.
