Activities in Tottori
1. Support for the preservation and continuation of Nagase Bina *What is a nagashibina event*
This is a custom that has been passed down from ancient times in Yose-cho, Tottori City.On March 3rd of the lunar calendar, a pair of paper dolls, a man and a woman, are placed on a bamboo straw mat and floated down the Chiyo River in hopes of good health. With the backdrop of the beautiful greenery of the mountains and the clear water of the Chiyo River, people have entrusted their thoughts to this shrine, which has been passed down to the present day in various forms. It is impressive to see children dressed in beautiful kimonos clasping their hands together to make a wish.
Additionally, on the day of the event, the hina dolls that have been passed down in each family are displayed at each house in the town to entertain visitors.
*Activity details*
We will visit the Mochigase Nagashi Bina no Yakata and experience making samurai with members of the Tokiwa Nagashi Bina no Kai, a local preservation society.
We conducted interviews about nagashibina events from the perspective of Generation Z, and while taking photos and videos, we created a “digital photo book” containing information on how to make nagashibina and the charm of local culture, and presented it to local people. I will.
The digital photo book will be useful in the community for the inheritance and development of local culture.
2. Interacting with the people of Tottori through the “Warashibe Choja Experience”
“Warashibe Choja Experience” held in 2023
We will carry out the “Warashibe Choja Experience” where you will carry your favorite sweets and walk around the area while bartering things.
I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of things you can exchange for and what kind of encounters you will have on the day.
Participants will be asked to share the charm of the area they felt through the program on their own SNS, and will also be asked to present their results at the results presentation event.
