* ■People who eat rice “almost every day” were the highest among teenagers, at 84%.*
We asked respondents how often they usually eat rice, including when they cook at home, eat out, and buy rice.
*We asked respondents to include not only white rice, but also takikomi rice and fried rice.
Overall, 74% answered “almost every day”, which was overwhelmingly high. More than 70% of all age groups answered “almost every day,” with the highest percentage among teenagers at 84%.
This was followed by “4 to 5 days a week” at over 10%. Among people in their 20s to 40s, the percentage of respondents who answered “4 to 5 days a week” is in the low 10% range, which is a little high. The combination of “2 to 3 days a week” and “less than 1 day a week” accounts for around 10% of people in their 20s and above, and in the low 10% range for women in their 20s and 60s. It was a little expensive.
Although not shown in the graph, looking by area, in the Kanto region, the percentage of respondents who answered “almost every day” was slightly lower than in other areas, in the upper 60% range.
* ■Less than 90% of people eat rice at home by cooking it in a rice cooker* We asked rice eaters how they eat rice at home.
*Includes cases where the food is prepared by someone you live with, such as your family.
Overall, “cooking in a rice cooker” was the highest percentage at just under 90%. It turns out that many people eat rice using a rice cooker at home.
“Buying bento boxes and rice balls/take-out” and “buying
retort-packed rice” followed at 10%.
Looking at the results by gender, a high percentage of both men and women choose to “cook rice in a rice cooker,” but it is slightly higher among women.
The proportion of respondents who said “buying/taking out bento boxes and rice balls” and “buying retort-packed rice” was slightly higher among men.
By age group, over 90% of people in their teens and 40s said they “cook rice in a rice cooker,” and the percentage was particularly high among women in their 40s, at 96%.
“Buying bento boxes and rice balls/taking out” was slightly higher in the low 10% range for women in their 20s and 30s, men in their 30s, and men in their 60s.
Among men in their 60s, although the percentage was low, “buying retort-packed rice” was also higher compared to other age groups.
