Masatoshi Omori 2024 FIM Flat Track World Championship Round 4 France Race Report
*Although Omori had become accustomed to operating the Italian factory machine, he struggled to score points due to his aggressive driving causing him to go off the track. Although the result was
disappointing, it was a race that was fruitful for the next race. * [Race overview]
Tournament name: 2024 FIM Flat Track World Championship Round 4 France Date and time: September 7, 2024
Location: Morises, France
Machine: ZAETA DT450RS
Weather: Cloudy and then sunny, temperature 21°C, humidity 64% Result: Failed in qualifying
Masatoshi Omori, the only Asian participant in the FIM Flat Track World Championship, the most prestigious race in the flat track world, participated in the 4th round of ZAETA held in France on September 7th.
CORSE TRICOLORE
Participated as a TEAM factory rider. The location is Molises, a small town about 70 km from Bordeaux in southwestern France. 22 riders competed fiercely on the 530m track, the longest lap of the season.
Omori handled the machine more easily than before and was able to get off to a good start in both heat races. However, because he continued to drive aggressively, he crossed the line on the inside of the track multiple times, leading to him being disqualified in the heat race. Despite this, he managed to maintain the points he had acquired and entered the repechage race, but unfortunately he was unable to advance to the final race, and was disappointed to fail in the qualifying round even though he had gotten used to the machine and was starting to feel better. He gained 2 rider points in this race and maintained his 19th place in the annual ranking. Omori, who has grasped the characteristics of the machine, will be heading into the next race against the Czech Republic with aggressive and error-free driving in mind.
Looking back on the race, Omori commented as follows.
*
“Due to the continuous rain that continued until the day before at Round 4 of the Flat Track World Championship, practice was limited to just one time before the actual race started. With each race I have gotten used to operating the machine, and this time as well. It felt good, but I wasn’t satisfied with the result. There’s still room for improvement. The next race will be in the Czech Republic, so I’ll continue to do my best.”
Giulio Bernardelle, representative of his team ZAETA CORSE TRICOLORE TEAM, also commented as follows.
*
“We are honored to have Masa, one of the best flat track players in Japan, on our team this season.Flat track is not yet widely popular in Japan, and it is a very short track. We hope that Masa’s performance at the 2024 World Championship will increase interest in flat track in Japan.”
