Sumida’s 9th art project “Sumida River Shinra Bansho”
At Sumi ni Yume (commonly known as Sumiyume), we will be holding the Sumiyume Odori Parade, which has been held every fall since the year before last.
Following Katsushika Hokusai’s “Odori Procession” depicting people happily dancing, the “Sumiyume Odori Procession” is set up in a turret in the Breeze Plaza of Sumida Park along the Sumida River, and is centered around live Bon Odori music. On October 26th (Saturday), we will welcome a variety of musicians and singers, including Jinta and Muta, as well as local dancers and performing arts groups, with a program that anyone of any age or gender can easily participate in. We will expand the circle of dance with the audience by dancing to familiar sounds and moving our bodies to original music.
On October 25th (Friday), the turret will be used as a stage, and there will be performances by Sumiyume participating organizations and a time for people active in the area to gather and “play.” You can enjoy dancing and music, relax in the plaza, or just have a picnic. Two days of gathering and dancing to the sounds and songs echoing in the autumn sky. Please feel free to take up this topic.
