Koajisai is a hydrangea that grows in the mountains and is characterized by having a decorative flower and blooming fragrant flowers. It blooms one after another in response to the rain last week, and it has a gentle sweet smell. A type of hydrangea that is not often found in urban areas, a fantastic figure that blooms in the mist during the rainy season is gaining popularity.

It is a deciduous shrub that grows in the mountainous areas of Honshu (west of Kanto), Shikoku and Kyushu, and its height is 1m to 1.5m, and its diameter is about 5cm. There is no large decorative flower commonly found in hydrangeas, so it is less glaring than other species, but instead it emits a sweet smell and invites insects to carry pollen. The flower color is a light blue-purple gentle coloration, and the color tone of the flower is slightly different depending on the strain, and various color tones are observed from dark blue to near white. Koajisai blooming in the shade of the tree is small but tasteful. We hope that you can enjoy Koajisai at our garden until late June.
