“FUTURELIGHT” was born out of the demand of “THE NORTH FACE” global athletes such as mountaineers and skiers seeking high waterproof and moisture-permeable performance, and the top products of “THE NORTH FACE” “SUMMIT SERIES”, “STEEP” SERIES (Steep Series), “FLIGHT SERIES (Flight Series)” and other collections for full-scale outdoor activities. The most demanded from athletes was the relief from the hassle of having to put on and take off the outerwear multiple times in order to escape the stuffiness in clothes. The “FUTURELIGHT” series products developed by the THE NORTH FACE global athletes in the world’s highest peaks and extreme regions such as Lhotse and Everest in the Himalayas are waterproof. By creating breathability that was not found in the conventional THE NORTH FACE waterproof breathable clothing, it further increases moisture permeability and reduces stuffiness in clothing. “FUTURELIGHT” is a three-layer structure using a membrane formed by spraying polyurethane fibers with a nano-level (about 1 billionth of a meter) thickness using “nano spinning” technology as an intermediate layer. Innumerable gaps created in the blown polyurethane fibers create breathability, and air flows through the outside air and clothing, releasing heat and moisture inside the clothing. Since the gap between the fibers is smaller than the water molecules, it is difficult for moisture from the outside, such as rain, to pass therethrough, and at the same time realizes the contradictory functions of waterproof and breathable. Due to its thinness and unique bonding technology, this membrane is light and soft and stretchable, has the strength to withstand violent movements, and reduces the sound of rubbing. In addition, because it is breathable, the number of ventilation can be reduced, making it lighter and more convenient for carrying around in a compact size. In addition, by adjusting the density of the polyurethane fibers to be blown over, the balance between waterproofness and breathability can be customized, and ventilation design according to the amount of exercise such as mountain climbing, running, snow sports is possible. In consideration of the natural environment, 100% recycled materials are used on the front and back of the three-layer structure, and non-fluorine water-repellent materials are used on the front.
