Trip.com Group Ltd. (Headquarters: Shanghai, China; CEO: Kiyoshi Son, Trip.com Group) and JTB Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroyuki Takahashi, hereinafter JTB) On December 3, today, the company signed an agreement on collaboration in winter sports aimed at expanding tourists visiting Japan. We will jointly develop and sell winter sports related products for visitors to Japan. Specifically, both companies will develop new products and activity plans as special plans in cooperation with the ski resorts in Hokkaido and Honshu for the coming winter sports season. And we will promote and sell to overseas market mainly in China market on Trip.com group website and apps.
The Chinese government has a plan to increase the number of ski and snowboard populations to 50 million and further increase the number of people involved in winter sports to 300 million by 2025. In recent years, not only in China but also in Southeast Asia, Japanese ski resorts have become very popular. Japan’s winter inbound market is now experiencing great opportunities, and by providing services that respond to this, the market for tourists visiting Japan can be expected to expand further.
