The World Wide Fund for Nature Japan (Minato-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Takejiro Sueyoshi, hereinafter referred to as “WWF Japan”) announced today, Monday, September 30, 2024, that musician, actor, and film producer Dean Fujioka. announced that he has been appointed as a WWF Japan Goodwill Ambassador. Based in Japan, Dean Fujioka is widely active as a musician, actor, and film producer in various Asian countries. He is also interested in social issues and is involved in a variety of activities. In addition, Indonesia, where WWF Japan is active, is the place where music production got its start, and in recent years it has also been used for filming starring movies. We would like to thank Mr. Dean Fujioka, who has realized the importance of citizen participation in social issues through his global work, and that he has been interested in WWF Japan’s environmental conservation activities for some time. Since then, I have been appointed as WWF Japan Goodwill Ambassador. All over the world, climate change is causing impacts such as droughts, water shortages, floods, and extreme heat waves. Although human life is highly dependent on biodiversity and a stable climate, we are altering nature and destroying the habitats of plants and animals. And as biodiversity loss and climate change accelerate, disasters for humanity are expected to increase further. It is important for each and every one of us to take action in order to leave a rich earth to the next generation. Dean Fujioka has more than 1.46 million followers on Instagram, and will use social media to share information about plants and animals affected by climate change and loss of biodiversity, the situation of humans, and the activities of WWF Japan. We will cooperate in sending out messages calling for participation. Dean Fujioka’s comment I am very honored to be appointed as a WWF Japan Goodwill Ambassador. Through expressive activities such as music and video, we would like to connect with you, learn together, and deliver the philosophy that WWF Japan upholds. Based on my own thoughts as a human being living on earth, and from my experience of taking action to combat food loss, I have learned how to cherish the power of a community in which individuals connect and share their thoughts in our daily lives. I learned that I can go. We look forward to joining forces with WWF Japan to build a healthy relationship between Human Being and Earth Being, and take the first step together to create a sustainable future. Comments from WWF Japan Executive Director Sadayoshi Tomai We are very pleased to welcome Dean Fujioka as a WWF Japan Goodwill Ambassador. This summer’s intense heat has made everyone realize that climate change measures are more urgent than ever. WWF Japan works towards a society where people and nature are in harmony, and together with as many people as possible, we hope to preserve the irreplaceable richness of the earth for future generations. I am looking forward to working with Dean Fujioka to communicate the critical situation of climate change and biodiversity conservation, as well as WWF Japan’s environmental conservation efforts.
