I was so excited that I said yes, but after accepting the offer, I started thinking about it. What on earth is a resort in a temple? Is it okay? What exactly is a resort? and. When I was worried, a friend of mine who was the manager of a famous overseas resort hotel told me this. “A resort is a ‘re sort,’ which means rearranging things. Resetting means zeroing and starting right away, but resorting gives you time to reorganize. We have provided that time.” I see. If you think about it, Keishunin is also a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect, and it is also a place to improve your mind and body. I thought that this trend would fit in very well. I was convinced that I wanted to hold an exhibition where people would look at the art at a temple and be confused, and then rearrange it. “The painting on the sliding door of Kano Mountain Snow in Keishunin also depicts the Togenkyo of that time, so in a sense it is a resort.” I happened to hear about this again from a senior colleague, and I thought that things were heading in one direction. This is my first attempt at fusuma painting. I will draw the resort that I think of, the paradise in my heart.

I thought I would do it on Kyoto soil, so I went to Asahiyaki in Uji, where I will present unique objects such as clay clay stones to ward off evil spirits, sages to guide, and saints to enlighten. In the tea room, we will also be presenting a unique tea bowl that is difficult to hold and that expresses the resort with its beautiful light colors made of Asahi ware. ” Omiya Ellie Art Exhibition “Let’s go find the source village ~Resort at the temple~” ■Period: November 15th (Friday) to December 8th (Sunday), 2024 ■Time: 9:00-16:30 ■Venue: Myoshinji Yamauchi Keishunin (11 Hanazonojinonakacho, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto-shi, Kyoto 616-8036) ■Admission fee: 500 yen (Entrance fee for Myoshinji Yamauchi Keishunin) ■Sponsor: Speedy Gallery Ellie Omiya Writer/Painter Born in Osaka in 1975, graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Tokyo.
