Shiraiya Hotel Co., Ltd. (Honmachi, Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, Representative Director: Isao Yamura), which operates Maebashi’s art destination “Shiraiya Hotel”, will offer tea time at the hotel’s all-day dining “Shiraiya The Restaurant.” Starting Friday, December 1, 2023, we will be offering art desserts dedicated to artists with ties to the hotel. Chef Hiro Katayama of the main dining room “SHIROIYA THE RESTAURANT” will be inspired by artists and artworks and come up with an original dessert “SHIROIYA the ART DESSERT.” The first installment is an homage to Mika Ninagawa’s work
“Afterglow,” which is on display in the hotel lobby as a project in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the opening of the nearby municipal art museum “Arts Maebashi.” We will continue to offer art desserts as a homage to artists and art.

During tea time, we offer recommended tarts from The Patisserie, a fresh fruit tart shop attached to the hotel, as well as afternoon tea and parfaits (seasonal products), and for meals, we also offer freshly baked bread from The Bakery. The art destination “Shiriya Hotel” opened in December 2020 with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. After Shiraiya Ryokan, which boasted a history of more than 300 years, went out of business, architect Sou Fujimoto renovated the existing building from the 1970s and built a new building, which became a hot topic as artists and designers from Japan and abroad collaborated. Selected as one of the 39 Best Hotels in the World in 2021 by National Geographic Traveler.
