How much attention is paid to personal appearance
Approximately 64% of people say they take care of their personal appearance, and the respondents say they are “somewhat careful” or “somewhat careful.” Approximately 55% are men and 76% are women. Among men in their 40s, the rate is just under 50%, lower than other groups. [Image 1
Reference information when purchasing beauty appliances
We asked people who have purchased beauty appliances in the past three years what information sources they referred to (multiple answers allowed).
Just under 30% each said “Seeing the actual product in store”, “Product information from mail order sites/online shops,
word-of-mouth reviews”, “Product comparison sites, home appliance review/evaluation sites”, “Manufacturer’s homepage”, and “TV programs/CMs”. It’s in the 10% range.
“Product information and word-of-mouth reviews from mail-order sites/online shops” is the most popular among women in their teens to 40s, while “SNS, YouTube” is the most popular among young women.
Beauty appliances you want to buy
Just under 40% of people have beauty appliances they would like to purchase in the future. Regarding the things they would like to purchase (multiple answers allowed), 16.1% said “hair dryer,” 6.0% said “scalp esthetician/head massager/electric scalp brush,” and 4.5% said “nose hair shaver.”
“Curling irons” are more expensive among young women and men in their teens and 20s. In addition, “facial beauty devices” and “hair removal devices” are also more popular among young women.
