[Kyoto Sangyo University Smart Campus Concept x Utilization of Cutting-Edge Technology] Large-scale VR/AR experience session held for university executives, faculty, staff, and students
SUS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, President: Kimio Saito) is a member of Kyoto Sangyo University (Kita-ku, Kyoto City, President: Kurosaka).
We held a large-scale XR experience session using VR/AR content owned by SUS at Hikari).
Kyoto Sangyo University is collaborating with SoftBank Corp. (hereinafter referred to as SoftBank) to create a “smart campus” that will implement futuristic services on campus that utilize technologies such as private 5G, AR (augmented reality), VR (virtual reality), and AI. We are proceeding with the concept.
This trial session was held with the cooperation of SoftBank, as we realized that SUS’ wide experience in industry, academia, and the public sector, as well as its planning and technical capabilities, could be put to use in the smart campus concept.
The trial session was held in the basement hall of Kamiyama
Observatory (within Kyoto Sangyo University), which has one of the largest astronomical telescopes at a private university in Japan. More than 100 people, including the university’s leading executives, system departments, academic departments, faculty, staff, and students, were able to experience SUS’s cutting-edge technology and utilize it in the smart campus concept and in educational settings. , we asked them to consider ways to improve the campus experience for students. With the theme of space, SUS created VR content that allows
participants to simulate walking on the moon and driving a rover (*). In addition, various proposals and opinions were exchanged, including ideas for repurposing VR systems for education, where multiple people can share the same VR space and communicate, and improvements to workplaces through AR content using AR glasses and smartphones. (*) Rover used in the space development field
In addition, the ONLY ONE CAMPUS Luminous Winter Festa event for current students of Kyoto Sangyo University will be held.
2023 ~Make memories together on campus~! ‘, a photo spot and giant Christmas tree project using SUS’s AR has been adopted.
