Ofuro cafe HITOMA, a day-trip hot spring operated by Onsen Dojo Co., Ltd. (Tokigawa-cho, Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture, Representative Director Toshiki Yamazaki), will be starting from February 7, 2024. We are now accepting reservations for the “Future Post Mail Pack,” a one-day stay plan where you can write a letter to yourself five years from now.

Graduation season. Preparing for a new life, moving, saying goodbye to the friends you always spent time with… For those who will be jumping into a new environment from April, we have created an admission pack in which you can write a letter to your future self. Why not write a letter to your future self in Yugawara, the town of literary greats, while imagining what you will be doing and becoming in five years?
This plan begins with making ink for writing letters. More than 900 colors of ink can be made by combining 9 colors of raw materials. In a world where communication via smartphones is commonplace, please enjoy the experience of “using your time and enjoying the whole process of writing.” You can take home the ink you made yourself. The ink making experience is a collaboration with photographer/columnist Nochi Kojo. We have developed 5 types of original inks inspired by Yugawara’s land, seasonal colors, and emotions. In the ink making experience, you can actually make collaboration color ink.
Once you have written your letter with your original ink, seal it with a sealing stamp. Sealing stamps originated in medieval Europe. Seal letters and envelopes by stamping over heated wax. You can choose 3 to 4 waxes of your favorite color.
The completed letter will be delivered to the customer around March 31, 2029, five years from now, so that they can look back on the new year and remember what happened at that time. We will use “Time Capsule Mail” operated by the Japan Philatelic Association. Delivery will be made by Japan Post Co., Ltd.

■Collaboration Creator Kosei Nochi
Born in Yokohama in 1989. Photographer and columnist. Since 2016, he has traveled to 30 countries around the world and after returning to Japan, moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand. He currently has about 200,000 fans on his SNS, where he publishes works that combine photos and words, as well as columns and essays about daily life. Popular among young women. Co-authored “Recipes for Instagram New Product Photos” and released a single-authored book “Looking for the Stars on a Rainy Night: A Dictionary of Beautiful Japanese Seasons and Words” in 2022.
