◆Overview The Research Institute for Civilization and Dynamics (RIDC) of the National University Corporation Okayama University
(Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasutomo Nasu) is a regional This is the fourth research institute in “Okayama
University, a core and distinctive research university,” and the first in the humanities and social sciences. RIDC holds the “RIDC Monthly Research Seminar,” which we hope will be a place where faculty members involved with RIDC can freely report and discuss their research results and the progress of ongoing projects. (The seminar will be open to the public.) (sometimes it is done semi-closed). The 30th RIDC Monthly Research Seminar “What is Sustainable Development Education – From the History of International Law” was held online on January 31, 2024 (Wednesday) (Speaker: Full-time lecturer at Fujii High School, Toulouse, France) We started broadcasting recordings of Ms. Yoko Kawakami, Doctor of Laws, Graduate School of the First University, on February 1, 2024. 【overview】
As global environmental destruction becomes a problem, international law recognizes sustainable development as a global responsibility. In order to fulfill this responsibility, we need educational policies that go beyond national frameworks. In particular, it has been pointed out that education on sustainable development is extremely important for the next generation to tackle international environmental issues such as global warming.
In this presentation, we will look back on the historical analysis and results of ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) from its birth to the present, while introducing the environmental issues facing the world.
