Recently, work styles and lifestyles in the new normal era have expanded, and it has become possible to conduct online communication such as online meetings in various places and environments. On the other hand, people need to be considerate of their surroundings when speaking out, and concerns about ensuring an environment where people can communicate safely are increasing.
Therefore, Canon MJ’s in-house startup ichikara Lab (Ichikara Lab), based on an idea born from discussions with young people about online communication, aims to create an environment where online
communication can be more free and comfortable. We have planned a “Talk”.
“Privacy Talk” is a wearable sound reduction device equipped with earphones, a microphone, and a fan. In addition to reducing the sound you make when wearing it and reducing surrounding noise, it also has a ventilation fan to ensure ventilation. It has a stylish design that can be worn in a wide range of situations, such as offices and cafes, and supports comfortable online communication in a variety of places and environments. In the support purchasing service “Makuake” project implemented in October 2023, the total amount of support purchases exceeded 10 million yen. Additionally, we were ranked 6th in the Nikkei Trendy Top 30 Hit Predictions for 2024 by Nikkei BP, Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Naoto Yoshida, hereinafter referred to as Nikkei BP).
Currently, ichikara Lab is conducting demonstration experiments in areas where there are likely to be problems with smooth and
comfortable online communication, such as while traveling on public transportation and in offices and co-working spaces.
ichikara Lab will continue to create products and services while listening to customer feedback, and aim to provide new value to society.
1. Attenuates your own voice and reduces surrounding noise When the sound passes through a maze-like structure that uses acoustic metamaterial technology, the sound is reduced by approximately 20 decibels*1, making it difficult for the speaker’s voice to leak out. This makes it difficult for people around you to hear the content. At the same time, it also prevents ambient noise from entering the microphone, making communication stress-free for the person you are talking to online.
2. Equipped with a ventilation fan to ensure ventilation The built-in ventilation fan promotes air circulation inside the main unit, making it difficult for moisture to build up and making it comfortable to wear. It is also equipped with a double microphone that captures both the sound of the fan running and audio, and by canceling out the noise of the fan running, it delivers clear audio to the person you are talking to online.
3. Simple startup method and stylish design Press and hold the button on the main unit for 3 seconds to turn on the power and automatically connect to your computer or smartphone via Bluetooth*2, ready for use. It also has a stylish design that can be used in a wide range of situations, both business and private.

“Privacy Talk” uses acoustic metamaterial technology to create a maze-like structure, creating air passages inside the device that absorb sound. It effectively absorbs the sound in the specific frequency range (1,000Hz to 4,000Hz) of the human voice while ensuring an air passage for breathing. The voice emitted when wearing “Privacy Talk” is reduced by approximately 20 decibels*1 by passing through this structure, making it difficult for people around you to hear what is being said.

You can participate from anywhere without any hesitation. It can be used in a wide range of situations, including private situations and online language lessons.

Press and hold the main unit button for 3 seconds to turn on the power and start the fan. It automatically connects to your computer or smartphone via Bluetooth*2, so you can use Privacy Talk immediately after wearing it. It can be used while being powered by a wired connection*3, so it can be used even when the battery is
insufficiently charged. In addition, the stylish design allows it to be used in a variety of locations and environments, both business and private. *2.
