~ Verifying needs for short time and last mile transportation as secondary transportation from the station ~
……
Times Mobility Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Norifumi Kawakami) has announced that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (hereinafter referred to as “Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism”) will extend the period and change some operational methods from April 1, 2024 (Monday). We will continue to participate as a car sharing operator in the revised and implemented “Car Sharing Social Experiment Utilizing Road Space (hereinafter referred to as the “Social Experiment”)”. In this social experiment, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will open a car-sharing station on a national highway with convenient transfers near Otemachi Station and Shinbashi Station, and our company will deploy car-sharing vehicles. The aim is to create a Tokyo version of the guidelines by verifying the safety, smoothness of road travel, and usage conditions by installing car sharing stations on roads.
Based on the verification results and usage data of the “Car Sharing Social Experiment Utilizing Road Space” conducted so far, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has taken measures such as increasing the number of roadside stations and changing the vehicles deployed from light cars to compact cars. We are confirming the usefulness and usage needs.
In order to extend this social experiment, we will promote short-term use as secondary transportation for the last mile from Otemachi Station/Shinbashi Station to the destination and verify the use by more people. In addition to increasing the available reservation time to six hours, the service will now operate only on a round-trip basis. Due to the change in the operation method, one more vehicle will be added to the “[On-Street Station] Otemachi Ekimae L/D Station,” and the maximum hourly rate will not apply to vehicles deployed at the station for this social experiment.
Please note that the changes to the reservation time and exemption from maximum hourly charges are scheduled to take effect from July 1, 2024.
Our company will continue to cooperate in this social experiment by operating the car sharing service and maintaining and managing the vehicles, as well as providing the usage data necessary for
verification, and providing notifications to Times Car members. Going forward, Times Mobility will continue to conduct social experiments with various organizations through “Times Car”, as well as deploy car sharing vehicles in locations that are easily linked to public transportation, in an effort to realize stress-free
transportation. I’m coming.
