We are pleased to announce that we will provide opportunities for collaboration with Japanese IP using a new license system as part of the “Fund” (hereinafter referred to as this program). *
While traditional IP licensing agreements are one-to-one, GeekOut will work to create one-to-many IP relationships aimed at harnessing the power of the content created by Roblox creators. This program is open to all Roblox developers of various levels, not just professional studios.
This initiative is a new framework that promotes co-creation while protecting the intellectual properties that are attracting the most attention, such as character works, comics, and animation.
In addition, in cooperation with Roblox Co., Ltd. and DEVLOX Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Kimihiko Tanaka, hereinafter referred to as DEVLOX), we will provide planning direction, development guidelines, and operational support.
■About “IP/Creator Bridge Fund”
– Funding creators to develop Roblox experiences from a total of $20 million (approximately 3 billion yen)
– Providing learning opportunities regarding IP usage and licensing guidelines
– Supporting developers in the licensing process
Furthermore, in collaboration with DEVLOX, we are currently planning a contest and creator recruitment on Roblox using this program. Major companies such as Kodansha Co., Ltd. and DeNA Co., Ltd. are scheduled to provide IP to Roblox. There are several other projects in progress, so please look forward to further updates.
