Three original mannequin works will be displayed in the special exhibition “Fragments of the Future: Laboratory of Science and Design.”
The A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE + Nature Architects exhibition, the Yamanaka Laboratory + Inami Free Body Project, and the Yamanaka Laboratory + Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) exhibits each have different designs, shapes, and poses. .
In 2019, 130 (One Thirty) began working with A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae to explore the possibilities of objects related to clothing and to research statues that harmonize with clothing. In 2020, a special exhibition of mannequins for wearing TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE blouson will be held at DAIKANYAMA T-SITE GARDEN GALLERY, and starting with this, the same series at ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA / 445, TYPE-I project, special exhibition in Paris Mannequins are displayed in exhibits such as “So the Journey Continues.”
In A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE’s new manufacturing endeavor, “130” pursues free, light and durable technology, and expresses the dignified inner world of the wearer in its entire shape, creating a design that is unique to clothing and its surroundings. We are conducting research and development to display products in space.

In addition, the work on the mannequins used in the Yamanaka Laboratory’s exhibited works began after Mr. Yamanaka came across the A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE mannequin exhibit while considering the content of this special exhibition. By fusing the free design of “130 (One Thirty)” with the extension of the body of the “free limb” of the Yamanaka Laboratory + Inami Free Body Project, and the extended human movement, we have created a system that allows for dynamic movement. I’m shaping it without any hassle. “Emblem,” a joint research project between the Yamanaka Laboratory and JAXA, uses the lightness provided by “130” to express flight while also capturing the facial expressions of the body during flight.

The concept of the works on display this time is “- Breaking out of your shell as a mannequin.”
Mannequins are meant to be dressed and for people to view the clothes. It doesn’t become an overly realistic doll, nor is it overly abstract, and acts like a mole to the clothes. However, does simply imitating the human form fully fulfill its role? In the same way that a dancer conveys emotion through the movement of the body, each of these mannequins is capable of expressing the movement and posture of a person’s body, the flow of muscles, the texture of their skin, and the emotions they feel when wearing clothing. Masu.
