As we celebrate our 115th anniversary on October 17, 2024 (Thursday), we will hold the “115th Anniversary Promotion” from April 2024 to March 2025 as the 115th anniversary year.
We consider the 115th anniversary to be a special turning point that not only reflects on the past, but also hopes and expectations for the future, and we have chosen the symbol of the 115th anniversary as a “driving wheel,” a symbol of the power to constantly rotate and move forward. We have decided to create plans and events to express our gratitude.
The driving wheel is a symbol that can be said to be the driving force behind the Nara Hotel, and was decorated on tableware, glasses, and pianos during the period when the hotel was under the direct management of the Railway Agency and the Ministry of Railways (1913-1945). Furthermore, the driving wheel conveys a “powerful message for a sustainable future,” “represents continuity from the past to the future and signifies steady evolution,” and “The driving wheel, which is made up of multiple gears, conveys the power of each individual to come together and cooperate.” It has the meaning of “expressing the generation of great power.”
In this promotion for our 115th anniversary, we would like to express our gratitude to our customers for their continued patronage, and also highlight the unique hospitality that Nara Hotel has cultivated since its founding in 1909, as well as the meaning of its symbol, the “Dorin.” Over the course of a year, we will develop plans and activities that will bring the hotel’s history to fruition and pass it on to the future.
The 115th anniversary symbol mark “driving wheel” is expressed in the number 5. The design cut into the upper right corner shows that the company will continue to move forward in an upward direction. In addition, the brown color with a lot of yellow indicates happiness for those who visit and a bright future that will continue. We will use it for future plans and events to communicate that this is our 115th anniversary year.

Nara Hotel was founded in 1909 (Meiji 42).
It was designed by Kingo Tatsuno, a master of modern architecture who is famous for designing Tokyo Station in 2013, and who is celebrating his 170th birthday this year. Since its establishment, it has welcomed many members of the imperial family and state guests during the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras, and is also known as the “Kansai State Guest House.” Adjacent to Nara Park, our hotel is within walking distance of world heritage sites such as Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine, making it an ideal base for sightseeing.
