■Background of the introduction of “Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics Online”
Hakone Town in Kanagawa Prefecture offers a wide range of
child-rearing support subsidies, including free child care, childcare fees, and elementary and junior high school lunch fees for children up to the age of 18. In addition, the “Childcare Share Town Project,” which started in 2020, aims to create an environment where families raising children and those who cooperate with childcare can loosely connect with each other and rely on each other.
Hakone Town has been implementing “Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online” on a trial basis from September 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
We aim to further enhance maternal and child health and child-rearing support by providing an environment where people raising children can easily consult obstetricians and gynecologists, midwives, and pediatricians directly and easily through online consultations using the smartphones they use on a daily basis. With this in mind, we conducted a trial run, and as a result of the residents’ use of the system, we have decided to introduce it in full.
Those who used the “Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online” during the trial period said, “I’m grateful that you encouraged me to see a doctor,” and “Pediatrics Online was a great support for my anxiety.” We have also received comments such as, “It’s now available.”
In addition, in response to the survey question, “If you were in a situation where “Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online” was provided free of charge, how would your impression of pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing support in your local government change?” 100% of respondents answered, “I have a better impression of support.” (n=9)
By creating an environment where you can easily consult an
obstetrician/gynecologist, midwife, or pediatrician from your smartphone at home, we will contribute to further support for pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing in Hakone Town.

With a 10-minute appointment, you can consult with an obstetrics and gynecology or pediatrician.

○Midwife consultation during the day: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 13:00 to 17:00
