Details of this partnership
As the movement towards achieving carbon neutrality in 2050 is gaining momentum, disclosing information on and reducing CO2 emissions has become an important management theme for all companies. This trend is becoming more active in the form of prime listed companies becoming TCFD compliant and requests for disclosure of emissions information in the supply chain, led by the automobile industry. In particular, the latter is becoming a trend regardless of industry or company size, and the number of cases in which companies are required to understand their own emissions and submit information is on the rise, including small and medium-sized enterprises.
We believe that financial institutions, which are closest to the management of each company, will take on the responsibility of helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for 99.7% (*1) of domestic companies, not be left behind in the decarbonization trend and promote decarbonization. We believe that our role is extremely important (*2). Through this partnership, we will provide “e-dash” to Kyushu Hizen Shinkin Bank’s business partners and support them in visualizing their CO2 emissions as a first step toward decarbonization. Furthermore, by supporting our customers over the medium to long term, including supporting the implementation of measures to reduce future emissions, we aim to work together with them to realize a decarbonized society.
What is “e-dash”?
“e-dash” is a service platform developed by Mitsui & Co. that provides comprehensive support for efforts to reduce CO2 emissions (*3). To visualize CO2 emissions, which is the first step in
decarbonization, simply upload your energy bill for electricity, gas, etc. and the CO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2) from your business will be automatically and easily calculated. We provide a system that allows you to accumulate accurate data while reducing calculation effort. Supply chain emissions (Scope 3) can also be easily calculated and visualized using software.
Regarding the calculation of CO2 emissions by “e-dash,” we conduct third-party verification by a major auditing firm and provide an accurate calculation method based on the calculation guidelines established by the Japanese government (*4 ).
Furthermore, in addition to visualizing CO2 emissions, we also utilize Mitsui & Co.’s network to support the implementation of various measures to reduce CO2 emissions.
