Current status of climate change
Climate change is primarily caused by increased greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere by human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and
agricultural activities.
With the onset of the Industrial Revolution in the 1800s, greenhouse gas emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels rapidly increased, far exceeding the amount of greenhouse gases that nature could absorb, resulting in an increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. As a result, the average global temperature has risen by 1.1°C compared to pre-industrial revolution levels, and unless measures are taken, it is predicted that temperatures will rise further and climate change will accelerate.
Climate change is leading to an increase in extreme weather and natural disasters, such as increased heat waves, droughts, floods, and typhoons. These phenomena have a direct impact on our living environment and threaten the safety of our lives.
“Cyanoba Zero” to avoid climate change
“Cyanoba” is a service that supports both corporate management and achieving carbon neutrality. We provide two services: Cyanoba GX Management Tool, a business efficiency tool for CO2 visualization, CO2 reduction measures, and CO2 roadmap creation, and Cyanoba GX Consulting, which supports business construction to maximize corporate value through GX. Cyanoba’s service is named after the microorganism “Cyanobacteria” that transformed the global environment more than 2.5 billion years ago, creating an environment in which life could thrive and survive. We have begun developing Cyanoba Zero in order to update Cyanoba and provide a service that directly contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Overview of “Cyanoba Zero”
“Cyanoba Zero” is an innovative solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from factories to zero. This system combines cutting-edge technology to significantly reduce the industry’s environmental impact.
■Main features
1. CO2 capture and reuse (CCUS *1)
Using equipment that captures and stores CO2 emitted from factories, we separate and capture CO2 emitted during the product manufacturing process.
The newly developed device has also succeeded in recovering
low-concentration CO2, which had been considered one of the
challenges. This makes it possible to recover approximately 99% of the CO2 emitted by the factory.
The recovered CO2 can be converted into new fuel and used as an energy source for factories, making it possible to reduce energy costs. *1 CCUS (Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage)
A technology that captures carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted from factories, etc. before it is released into the atmosphere, stores it underground, and reuses it.
2. Cooperation with Cyanoba (GX management tool)
By linking Cyanoba Zero and Cyanoba, you can automatically obtain CO2 emissions, recovery amounts, and reuse rates. Cyanoba also allows you to display this information separately for each factory or product. 3. Automatic adjustment of energy optimization
Cyanoba can output a roadmap that sets future reduction targets based on the collected data. Based on this roadmap, we create an
optimization plan for the energy usage and costs used in the factory, and Cyanoba Zero automatically adjusts the energy used. This function can reduce environmental impact and energy costs at the same time. Cyanoba Zero is the ideal solution for companies aiming to operate economically sustainably while reducing their industry’s environmental impact.
We are currently developing the beta version of Cyanoba Zero, aiming for commercialization in 2050.
