This press release is a dream sent out by a business operator who sympathizes with the April Dream project and wants to make April 1st a day full of dreams, hoping to make them come true.
Our April Dream
Our company supports April Dream, which aims to make April 1st the day to share dreams. This press release is a dream of Monolix Co., Ltd. What is AGV?
AGV (Automated Guided
Vehicle) is an unmanned guided vehicle that can run automatically without human intervention, and AMR is an automated guided vehicle that can move in response to more irregular situations.
(Autonomous Mobile Robot:
It is called an autonomous robot. Since it is possible to automate and unattend the transportation of various materials from one designated location to another, the number of applications for this system has been increasing in recent years, mainly at manufacturing companies’ factories and logistics sites.
dream background

We are now in an age where global networks have developed and it is possible to get what you want instantly, but as Japan’s population ages, it has become increasingly difficult to secure human resources to work in logistics. As a result of these restrictions, various issues have arisen — the so-called “Logistics Problems 2024″ — and there are strong calls for more efficient and labor-saving logistics.

At Monolix, we draw on our many years of proposal experience and know-how regarding logistics equipment and site improvements to visualize logistics transport equipment that suits our customers’ sites, create a safe and secure flow of goods, and focus on creating an environment where people can work easily and enjoyably. I’ve been doing it.

The field in which we are currently strengthening our efforts is the “automated guided vehicle” market. There are various types of logistics transport equipment, but we are confident that the need for the introduction of AGVs and AMRs, which can achieve high labor savings in large factories and distribution centers, will continue to accelerate.

For example, at work sites where people are transporting goods, it is common to see workers transporting goods on trolleys and simply walking back and forth. If AGVs can be used to handle transportation, people can do other tasks instead of carrying heavy loads for long periods of time or walking long distances back and forth. However, there are some hurdles.

The first hurdle is that AGVs cannot handle carts as delicately as humans. Even if the weight is within the towing capacity, if the trolley swings around a curve or the wheels of the trolley are not properly controlled, an accident may occur where a person and the trolley collide.

Second, AGVs may not be able to negotiate well with each other. For example, when multiple AGVs meet at the same time at an intersection, they may enter the vehicle at the same time and cause an accident, or conversely, their collision prevention sensors may stop them and block the path, creating a burden on passersby.

Third, typical AGVs do not care about the width of the object they are towing. Even if the sensors mounted on the main unit prevent collisions between the AGV and passersby, if the trolley being towed behind is larger than the AGV, there is a risk of collision with passersby or a forklift.

We believe that AGVs have the ability to overcome these hurdles, be kind to people, and make the workplace easier. We believe in the power and potential of AGV to transform “difficult” logistics sites into “fun” ones, and by supporting their introduction and utilization, we will widely contribute to the development of the logistics industry and make logistics the number one industry in Japan to work in. We aim to make it 1.
“AGV utilization support”

Monolix supports AGVs to be used in more sites. We help our customers in the field make it easier to utilize AGVs by adding features that allow various AGVs to fully demonstrate their capabilities and provide smooth and safe transportation.

Specifically, we offer “Begin+JIG,” a general-purpose AGV/AMR towing jig that achieves stable automatic towing and transportation, and “KEY×CON+,” which allows you to control AGVs without programming. “Connection Arm” connects carts together for efficient
transportation, “Key Cart Cover” protects the AGV itself, “Zone Light” prevents collisions and makes AGV driving safer, and works with AGVs on site. We support the safe and comfortable operation of various AGVs with various original products that are easy to install, such as “WADOME” for forklifts.
Steps to realization

I am prepared to go on a long journey in order to change the logistics workplace from “difficult” to “fun” and make logistics the number one industry in Japan to work in, but I want to move forward as fun and efficiently as AGV.

Therefore, “International Logistics Comprehensive Exhibition Logis-Tech Tokyo”
We have decided to exhibit at “2024” and proactively communicate the usefulness of AGV/AMR as collaborative robots. At the exhibition booth, we plan to simultaneously control multiple AGVs from different manufacturers and demonstrate safety measures that are popular at various sites. Furthermore, we will be on stage at an exhibitor presentation seminar to explain how to effectively utilize AGV.

By making many people involved in logistics aware of “AGV utilization support,” we aim to develop channels for participation in logistics automation projects nationwide and make dreams come true through active business activities.
