A symposium was held on the theme of “Children’s Health and Lifestyles – How are medical associations involved?” Now available on the official YouTube channel and special website – Japan Medical Association
The Japan Medical Association has launched the “Community-Based Medical Association Activities Project” in the hope that the public will have a broader understanding of the activities of medical associations that support local medical care.
The second hybrid symposium was held on Sunday, March 10th, and the proceedings are available on the Japan Medical Association’s official YouTube channel and special website.
The first symposium held on October 11th last year covered
disaster-related initiatives and responses to the new coronavirus infection, but this time, the second symposium focused on “Children’s Health and Lifestyle.”
～How is the medical association involved? The theme of the first part was “Protecting children’s safety and security – from prenatal care to pediatric emergency response”, and the second part was
“Supporting children in medical care”.
In the introduction, the chairperson gave an overview of
community-based medical association activities and explained about “pediatric emergency response” and “medical care for children,” which are related to children’s health and daily life.
In the lecture, he talked about “perinatal visits,” “night pediatric clinics,” and “children in medical care,” by collaborating with local governments and various professions, and actively utilizing ICT to protect children in the community. The efforts of the medical association for the deaf were reported.
Finally, Vice President Shigeto Shigematsu gave a summary, stating that the Japan Medical Association made the “Japan Medical Association Declaration on Child Support” 18 years ago and is actively working on supporting children. He expressed his desire for the public to become more aware of the activities of medical associations that are rooted in the local community.
