We will be holding the second briefing session regarding the “Sports Content Overseas Expansion Support Subsidy,” which supports the overseas expansion of sports content carried out by Japanese sports teams and clubs.
The Sports Content Overseas Expansion Support Subsidy Secretariat (contracted by the Secretariat: JTB Kasumigaseki Division) provides subsidies for localization and promotion of sports content carried out by Japanese sports teams and clubs when expanding overseas. We have started accepting applications for the “Sports Content Overseas Expansion Support Subsidy,” which provides financial support. We held the first briefing session the other day for the public recruitment, and will now hold the second briefing session on April 9th (Tuesday) from 15:00.

【Business summary】
This project will be implemented using the “Subsidy for Promotion of Overseas Expansion of Japan’s Cultural Arts Contents and Sports Industry (Sports Content Overseas Expansion Support Project)” provided by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s FY2020 supplementary budget.
Increase the number of Japanese sports fans overseas by providing subsidies of up to 30 million yen per project for localization and promotion of sports content carried out by Japanese sports teams and clubs overseas. The purpose of this project is to promote initiatives that contribute to expanding overseas demand and, by extension, capturing inbound demand.
◆Target businesses
We will select sports leagues, clubs, etc. that meet the following requirements. 1. Must be based in Japan and established based on Japanese laws and regulations.
2. It must have the organization, personnel, etc. to carry out this project appropriately.
3. The applicant must have the necessary management base to smoothly carry out this business, and have sufficient management ability regarding funds, etc.
4. The applicant must not be subject to measures to suspend subsidies, etc. or designation by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. ○League: Applicants must have experience in holding national sports leagues or tournaments in the past.
*Definition of national sports league or tournament
Players and spectators from all over the country participate in leagues sponsored by member organizations of the Japan Top League Association, national championship tournaments and Japan national team games sponsored (including invitations) by central sports
organizations or national governing bodies. The league or tournament will be the highest level of sports in Japan, attracting the highest level of sports.
However, the following items are excluded.
・Regional qualifying rounds, etc. held within some prefectures or regional blocks
・Things that are held exclusively as participatory sports events, such as citizen marathons
○Club: A club that belongs to the above league, etc.
◆Maximum subsidy amount
Per application: 30 million yen (subsidy rate: 1/2)
