May 10th Pre-sale of bicycle helmet bag “biclou” that prevents theft and stuffiness begins at Makuake
~We want to solve problems when using bicycle helmets and contribute to increasing the helmet wearing rate~
……
Invention Labox Co., Ltd. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Naomi Matsumoto), an idea product development, manufacturing and sales company, will launch a bicycle helmet bag “biclou” to prevent theft from Friday, May 10, 2024. We will start selling on the crowdfunding site “Makuake”. This bag uses your existing wire lock to store your helmet, and by using water-repellent and mesh materials, it not only prevents theft but also eliminates stuffiness and solves problems when using a bicycle helmet.

[Reason why wearing a bicycle helmet is not popular even if it becomes compulsory]
One year has passed since April 2023, when efforts were made to make it compulsory to wear helmets when riding a bicycle, but according to a survey by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, as of January 2024, the bicycle helmet wearing rate in Tokyo was as low as 9.1%. it is continuing. According to a survey conducted by the Tokyo
Metropolitan Government, 43% of people answered that there is no place to put a helmet on a bicycle as a reason for not always wearing one, followed by the fact that wearing a helmet is not an obligation but an obligation to make an effort (43.9%). I did. Scooters and other vehicles have a place to store a helmet, but bicycles don’t, so they have to carry it around for fear of theft, which suggests that there are many problems with wearing a helmet.
“Biclou” is a bicycle helmet bag that solves this problem. [Functional helmet bag that can use your existing wire lock]

Bicycle helmet bags have existed in the past, but there have been problems such as the anti-theft “key” that is attached to them being easily broken or the lock opening easily. It didn’t happen.
On the other hand, “biclou” has a structure in which the bag body has a hole through which the wire lock can be passed, and since it is designed to be used through a commercially available wire lock, you can change the type and grade of the wire lock to suit your
preference.

Even if the lock breaks, you can simply replace the relevant part, so the entire bag does not become unusable. You can also choose the lock you want, so you can use the one that fits your bicycle. The storage location of the helmet bag can be set freely.
[Measures to keep the helmet from getting stuffy or wet]
In addition to solving these problems, I would like to prevent the helmet from getting wet due to sweat or rain inside the bag while keeping it dry. Through trial and error, we tried to solve the problems associated with wearing a helmet, such as wanting to store it compactly when not in use.

Mesh back
In particular, it was extremely difficult to keep the helmet from getting wet in the rain while also keeping it from getting stuffy inside the bag, so we considered various shapes. In the end, we thought, “Wouldn’t it be possible to keep the helmet from getting wet if we made the bottom part mesh?” We tried making a prototype, but if we just switched the bottom to mesh fabric, the weight of the helmet would cause the mesh fabric to loosen underneath. He then comes out and his helmet gets wet. After making many prototypes, we found that the shape of the folding gusset (hidden gusset) was the most ideal shape, and the current shape of “biclou” was adopted.
It has a compact structure that allows it to be stored compactly when not in use.

Folds compactly when not in use
We hope that through this product, which solves the problems associated with wearing a helmet, we can contribute to increasing the rate of helmet wearing.
