A long-established photo studio in the Tokai region, celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2024.
Turtle Co., Ltd. *What is the movie Dear Family?*
This is a story based on the true story of a family who tried to develop an artificial heart. In the 1970s, heart disease was a fatal disease for Japanese people. Under such circumstances, their daughter Yoshimi had a congenital heart disease and was told at a young age that she only had 10 years to live. In the midst of despair, her father, Nobumasa, who runs a small factory, decides to create an artificial heart for his daughter, despite being a medical novice. It was almost impossible for an amateur to develop a medical device, but with the sole desire to save their daughter’s life, her father and mother devoted themselves to studying artificial hearts, and spent many years developing them. I spent it. However, the movie depicts how Yoshimi’s time limit for life is drawing closer and closer as all medical personnel turn their backs on her, saying, “There’s no way an amateur could do this.”
“10 years of just waiting for death” or “10 years of challenging the impossible”.
An ordinary man from a small factory who had nothing to do with the medical world later came to shake up the medical world. There is only one reason why this great miracle was created. This story, based on the true story of a miracle performed by a family who never gives up, neither has a tearful happy ending where a life is saved, nor a shocking bad ending where a life is lost. The director is Sho Tsukikawa, who was in charge of films such as “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas.” Sho Tsukikawa, who is also a master of romance films, will next take on a story about parent and child and family. Now that he is a parent of two children, he is demonstrating his sharply honed sensibilities as a father and challenging himself to reach new heights.
