*Overview of supporter collaboration between design studio CULUMU and Nono Festival Executive Committee*
CULUMU Research is a co-creation research service that will be available from spring 2024. At design studio CULUMU, we have implemented many inclusive design projects that incorporate the process of co-creation, and now we have launched CULUMU Research as a service that values matching with rare N=1 stakeholder monitors and research functions. Was born.

This collaboration with supporters will enable co-creative research and inclusive design with stroke survivors and medical professionals. Number of stroke patients
Symptom stages of stroke patients
Stroke is a disease in which the brain is damaged due to blockage or rupture of blood vessels in the brain. When a stroke occurs, the physical and language functions controlled by the affected brain may be lost, and in some cases, death may occur.
Thanks to advancements in medical care and the development of emergency systems, stroke has become a non-fatal disease, but the impact of stroke is significant, and a characteristic of stroke is that it often severely disrupts the patient’s daily life.
Stroke used to be the number one cause of death for Japanese people, but the mortality rate has decreased in recent years, and it now ranks 4th (1st place is cancer, 2nd place is heart disease, and 3rd place is old age).

However, this is because the number of patients dying has decreased due to improved emergency medical care and advances in treatment methods, and the number of patients is still high.
In terms of nursing care, it has been shown that the number of people who require nursing care due to cerebrovascular diseases, including stroke, is second only to dementia.
Stroke Festival (commonly known as Brain Festival) is a shared experience where stroke victims, medical professionals, their families, and healthy people can come together and say to each other, “That event was fun,” to promote understanding of illnesses and disabilities. , a festival held with the hope of deepening
understanding of each other’s positions.
The people who participate in Nono Fest’s events and activities do not have a disability or a healthy background.
We will learn about people who have suffered a stroke, care
recipients, and people with disabilities, recognize each other, eliminate the barriers between people with disabilities and healthy people, and make the world more gradated. We would like to hear from all companies, local governments, and organizations who would like to join us.

* Philosophy of inclusive design studio CULUMU *
Vision: “Designing a prosperous society without barriers”
CULUMU is an inclusive design studio that co-creates value with diverse people and society, with the vision of “designing a prosperous society without barriers.” So far, we have provided support for new businesses based on social issues and design support for businesses that address DE&I.

In order to embody CULUMU’s mission of “becoming a true spokesperson for diverse people,” we will reach out to people from social minorities and those who are involved in social issues. We have started offering “CULUMU Research,” a research service that contributes to a deeper understanding of tacit knowledge derived from people’s life histories, circumstances, and occasions.
Through this research service, we are able to find out not only the needs of typical and standard consumers and users, but also those of social minorities. In response to needs such as “I want to access the voices of minorities” and “I want to understand what kind of diversity I should consider in the first place as a company that has started initiatives for reasonable accommodation (assessment, accessibility evaluation)”, we aim to support corporate growth. We hope to create opportunities.

Features
1.
