The Mainichi Shimbun will be live streaming the online rakugo show “Shinsuke and Friends” on May 23rd (Thursday) from 7pm. There are two performances: “Kamikazuya” and “Makage Yuigafuchi”. Magician Muyo Ito makes a guest appearance.

Aiming to expand the number of fans of classical performing arts and rakugo, we continue to invite guests and stream once a month. Recommended for everyone from Rakugo beginners to those who go to Yose.
This time’s performances are the comic story “Kamikuzuya” and the ghost story “Shinkei Kasane Gafuchi.”
In between the rakugo performances, we will feature a performance by guest Yumeha Ito and a talk with Master Shinsuke.
Yumeha is a veteran performer with nearly 50 years of experience, and is known for her comical magic that draws the audience in. He is good at using the whip, and even in vaudeville shows he always does it with a “bish!” sound. I wonder if Shinsuke’s home, where the ceiling is not as high as a vaudeville theater, will be able to avoid breaking the fluorescent lights! ? looking forward to!
Program synopsis
“Paper waste shop”
The main character is a young man who has been disowned for his excessive debauchery and is freeloading with the head of the house. This is a humorous story about a man who does not work but plays and ends up going to work at a paper waste shop.
“Makage Yugafuchi: Murder of Soetsu – Arrest of Shingoro”
A full-length ghost story by the late master Sanyutei Encho, who is said to be the founder of rakugo. This is the first seat that was reorganized into four seats for Shinsuke Master’s performance at Yokohama Nigiwai-za in honor of the late Master Katsura Utamaru. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those who missed the performance, which was performed in April (at Yokohama Nigiwai-za). Viewer present
