* On June 24th (Monday), Creek & River Co., Ltd. (C&R Co., Ltd.) held an online seminar “Basic Knowledge of Design Vol. 4″ held in February of this year.
We will be distributing the archived video of “Design History that Creators Should Know” for free. This seminar is aimed at people who are active as designers in the web, video, games,
advertising/publishing, fashion, interior design, etc. *

Design is not just about creating a beautiful appearance, but is widely used as a process and method for systematically constructing things in order to achieve a purpose or goal. It also plays an important role in various areas such as product appearance and functionality, advertising, and the usability of websites and apps. Having basic knowledge of design is important not only for graphic designers and web designers, but also for people involved in all kinds of creative work, such as video creators, directors, marketers, etc. In this seminar series “Basic Knowledge of Design,” Keiichi Masuda, who is active as a lecturer at vocational schools in addition to administering qualifications and producing teaching materials related to graphic design, web design, and video production, will be on stage to help you understand the basics of design. We will introduce it easily.
The theme of the 4th session is “Design History”. As we look back at the history of design, we will talk about how to utilize knowledge from the past for contemporary creativity.
Innovations in the history of design, from the Industrial Revolution, which laid the foundation for modern design, to the design revolution sparked by William Morris and his associates, to the Arts and Crafts movement, which brought about a reappraisal of handmade beauty and craftsmanship. By learning from past designs about the role of the avant-garde movement and the changes and influence of design starting with the emergence of modernism, this will be an opportunity to think about how this can be applied to contemporary projects. Recommended for those who want to learn about the role and importance of design in the creative world, those who want to relearn design, and those who want to make the most of the power of design.
