Palestine’s traditional soap industry, which is in danger of survival, has started crowdfunding to “connect the last soap factory to the future”!

* Background and thoughts behind the implementation of cloud funding * On April 28, 2024, we received sad news from a soap factory in Palestine. Caught up in the war, it is now difficult to continue making soap. Founded in 1611, it is one of the last two remaining soap factories in Palestine, and is also the only one that supplies soap all over the world.
The closure of this factory marks the end of the history of soap making in Palestine.
As the war in Gaza spread, we have continued to provide support, but after learning about the tragic current situation, we felt that more concrete action was needed. Therefore, we have launched this project with your help.
The war has also spread to the West Bank and Nablus region, and many civilians, mainly children and women, have lost their lives. Olives, which are a raw material for soap, were also damaged and did not bear much fruit last year. Furthermore, on April 15, 2024, there were also victims from within the family that owned the soap factory.
Very little information was available in Japan, and what information was available in English was tragic. Nowadays, gunshots are heard every day, and many civilians are being killed.
Since October 7, 2023, 117 children have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip. Daily life has been restricted, and the main raw material for soap continues to be difficult to secure.
In this situation, I couldn’t find any words to respond. However, with your support, we may be able to continue protecting this historic soap factory.

Nablus soap has been made in the West Bank of Palestine from the 10th century to the present. However, many factories were closed due to political tensions, military conflicts, and repeated wars.
There were dozens of factories in the 1900s, but now only two remain.
