Sojitz enters into capital and business alliance with SDG Impact Japan to jointly consider global warming countermeasures and low-carbon projects
……
Sojitz Corporation (hereinafter “Sojitz”) and SDG Impact Japan Inc. (hereinafter “SIJ”) have entered into a capital and business alliance agreement to jointly consider global warming countermeasures and low-carbon businesses, including carbon credit-related businesses. (hereinafter referred to as the “Partnership”). Under this
partnership, the two companies will jointly consider collaboration in businesses that generate carbon credits in renewable energy projects in developing countries, as well as startup-related businesses in areas that lead to a decarbonized and recycling-oriented society. This partnership also considers the use of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (hereinafter referred to as “JCM” [1]).
Sojitz has set the “Sustainability Challenge” as its long-term vision for 2050, and aims to achieve sustainable growth for Sojitz and society by taking on the challenge of realizing a decarbonized society through business and respecting human rights, including in the supply chain. We are aiming for growth. To achieve our vision, we have been strengthening our business with an eye toward a decarbonized and recycling-oriented society and developing essential infrastructure, including transition projects. SIJ is a company specializing in sustainable finance, founded by finance and sustainability experts. Together with leading domestic and international partners, we formulate and operate investment strategies focused on sustainability, and incubate innovative businesses that contribute to improving sustainability. We aim to create a sustainable future for people and the planet through impactful investments in sustainable ideas and technologies. Through this alliance, Sojitz and SIJ aim to build partnerships with a wide range of companies in the area of
decarbonization and a recycling-oriented society. In addition, by integrating Sojitz’s global business network with SIJ’s network of startup companies with innovative technology in the sustainability field, which is one of its strengths, we aim to create open innovation and promote the transition to a sustainable society. We will continue to promote efforts to accelerate this.
