environmentally friendly garbage bags in September 2024

Choice Hotels Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and Representative Director: Takahiko Ito, hereinafter referred to as “Choice Hotels Japan”), which operates “Collection(TM)”, announced on June 5, 2024 ( In conjunction with World Environment Day (*1) on Wednesday, we are announcing that we will be changing the garbage bags for guest rooms at all of our hotels to environmentally friendly garbage bags made from 50% recycled materials. By switching to environmentally friendly garbage bags, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 8.88 tons per year. (※2)

The environmentally friendly garbage bags that we are introducing this time are products designed to realize resource circulation and reduce fossil fuel consumption. Using 50% recycled raw materials reduces the amount of simple incineration, reduces CO2 emissions resulting from combustion of 50% of raw materials, and further reduces the use of new fossil fuels. The impetus for introducing this product was that its durability was comparable to that of conventional garbage bags. Starting from September 2024, all Comfort hotels will gradually switch to environmentally friendly garbage bags.
