Daimaru Shinsaibashi store is participating in Osaka Art & Design 2024, one of the largest touring area events ever. Under the theme of “Resonance ~ Expansion of Resonance ~”, artworks that resonate with each other and create resonance beyond attributes and fields will be gathered at the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store. Several art events will be held, including a charity auction by artists associated with Daimaru and the 8th event – ART SHINSAIBASHI. Please enjoy it at the venue.

Coda was raised by deaf parents and creates art using the sign language that he has been familiar with since childhood. He has released many works based on the concept of “TALKING HANDS/HAND TALK.” His works are characterized by sign language motifs and pop illustrations of animals expressing sign language.

Born in 1971 in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. Expressing introspective themes with humorous shapes and soft colors. “Ogre Blue”, symbolized by the layers of colors, is a color that only he can express, and depicts a unique worldview that appeals to a wide range of age groups.

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1985. His works are full of intimacy and humor and are expressed with vivid colors and bold, powerful lines. He works on a wide range of artwork, including collaborations with FILA, COACH, and STARWARS, CD jackets for musicians, merchandise illustrations, and mural art.

A dream project was realized with the cooperation of three artists who are connected to Daimaru. Works created for Daimaru will be on display in the store during the period. The work will be put up for sale in an online charity auction. All proceeds from the charity auction will be donated to the 2020 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Relief Fund through the Japanese Red Cross Society. You can also see messages of support from them at the venue.

Donald Robertson “Ginko Love” approx. 115 x 60 cm (with frame) During the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store’s 4th anniversary promotion, a fashion art created for the inside of the store, inspired by the ginkgo trees along Midosuji Street.
Known as “Drawbertson” on Instagram, he is a pop artist who provides work to a variety of industries and media. In March 2019, he created an art piece for the commercial facility “Hudson Yards” that opened in New York. In December 2023, he published a collection of his works, “SOFA KING GREAT”, which has been well received.

Cutout art of starlings and gift boxes created for Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store’s 2012 Christmas promotion.
Born in Cyprus in 1962. Lives in London. Studied fine art at Trent College of Art in England, then specialized in printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Since 2002, he has been creating works using paper-cutting techniques. He has also collaborated with many companies, including Fortnum & Mason and Paul Smith. In 2018, he published a collection of his works, “I Thought About It In My Head And I Felt It In My Heart But I Made It With My Hands.”

Jason Brooks “A New Story Begins” approx. 52 x 36 cm (with frame) A new sketch data of the exterior of the new main building created at the grand opening of Daimaru Shinsaibashi store will be printed on the campus. The print is signed by the person himself.
Born in London in 1969. Studied graphic design and illustration at St. Martin’s University of the Arts in London. After graduating, he attended the Royal College of Art and earned a master’s degree. He has worked on numerous projects for high-end fashion magazines such as “Vogue” and “ELLE” as well as luxury brands. While being one of the first to introduce computers to the field of fashion illustration and specializing in digital illustrations, he also published the “Sketchbook” series of drawings from his travels, “London,” “Paris,” and “New York.”

■CHOP POP Let’s Get Out of This Country
The music video for British band Camera Obscura’s “Let’s Get Out Of This Country” was produced as a paper cover version over two years starting in 2015. This time, approximately 50 of the original drawings will be exhibited and sold, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Starter Packs Glasgow.

CHOP POP started production activities in 2008. The artist’s name comes from his favorite English phrase “Chop Chop” (Hurry! Hurry!). Influenced by UK/US Indie Rock, especially the Glasgow music scene. Exhibitions are scheduled to be held in New York in April 2024 and in Glasgow in August.

A live performance was held to commemorate the publication of poet and painter Ogre Ben’s second collection of poems and paintings.
