This year, the spread of coronavirus infection has subsided, and the number of overseas travelers visiting Japan is increasing again. For children who will survive in the future society, English is an important means of communication not only when going abroad but also within Japan. Also, explaining Japan in English to people from other countries is a valuable experience. We often receive requests from parents who have started learning English to put their English conversation skills to use in real life situations. In order for children to continue learning English, it is important not only to improve their language skills, but also to gain experience
communicating in English with foreigners in the real world and expressing things related to themselves and their home country in English.

* [Curriculum Features 1. Preliminary learning online]*
One of the features is that it includes pre-study and practice online, not just on the day.
In the pre-study, in addition to thinking about and practicing English interviews, you will also think about behavior and manners in public places, and your attitude toward your conversation partner. Group members learn from each other by sharing their opinions, and we devise the order of interviews and division of roles. Once the group has become more cohesive, role-play with the teachers. In the role play, each group poses English questions to the teacher who plays the role of a tourist.

* [Curriculum Features 2. Real interview experience at Haneda Airport, which is crowded with inbound tourists]*
On the day, you will experience a real interview at Haneda Airport. Many foreigners who travel or work in Japan visit the airport, so you’ll be able to draw out a variety of stories.

* [Curriculum Feature 3. Presentation of the day’s content in a report]* You will reflect on the content of the interview, create a draft of your presentation, and present it in front of everyone. Through this experience, children can further improve their self-confidence and English and communication skills. This time, the presentation will be held in a conference room in the airport terminal and broadcast online. Although it is only a one-day experience, we have received many positive comments from parents at past events.

* ・It seemed like he had a really fulfilling time while following along with his brother, and he had a lot of fun after returning home! I wrote this in my diary. *
* ・I was very happy that I had prepared well for the field trip, and that the flow from then on to the output was very solid. *
* ・I was surprised to hear that my child, who I thought was shy, took the lead in the group and started talking. *
* ・I interviewed more people than I expected, and I was able to see how hard I worked. *
* ・Through this experience, they felt that they wanted to be able to speak English better. *
* After returning home, he was full of confidence and said that he was able to lead the team and build the team. *

Judging from the comments of the participants, field trips are a very meaningful experience for the children. Regarding the results of the field trip,
GLI official blog
Please refer to the. GLI’s field trip is an event in which groups go to tourist spots that are often visited by foreigners and conduct in-depth interviews. Before participating in the field trip for the first time, I heard a lot of negative opinions from the children and their parents, but when I actually communicate using English, everyone has fun and gains confidence. Even shy children can see a lot of growth. This is an event that not only children who love English but also everyone who wants to express themselves should participate.
