Half of Eight (halfof8.com) based in Japan in 2024
The collective has unveiled a project themed around the journey to the top of Mt. Fuji via the famous Yoshidaguchi Trail. Material collection for this project will take place in 2022, carefully collecting all the branding irons from the 5th station to the summit, conducting interviews with the owners of each station, documenting valuable insights, and documenting the landscape and the station itself. I took a photo.
*The role of mountain huts and the significance of stamps*
The mountain huts along the Yoshidaguchi route are all privately run and provide basic accommodation for climbers. These mountain huts not only provide a place to rest, stay, and eat while climbing, but the stamps you get at each hut are a way to support their owners and experience their diverse designs and stories.
*Project overview and purpose*
The team realized that there was no engaging medium on the internet to appreciate the beauty of iron stamps, so they launched a project to solve this problem. Leveraging the wealth of material we gathered during our expeditions, we created an immersive web experience centered around a fully branded interactive 3D model of a walking stick.

Hand-drawn backgrounds, ambient sounds, and dynamic weather effects further enrich the experience, providing users with a comprehensive and engaging depiction of their journey. The project also incorporates the latest trends and is available in two languages, making it accessible to as many people as possible.
