Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, President: Yutaka Yoneyama, hereinafter referred to as APU) will use the AI-based English learning system “GET Test & Learning System” provided by MagniLearn in the 2025 school recommendation selection process in Japan. This will be introduced at university for the first time. At APU, more than 95% of specialized courses are offered in both Japanese and English, and Japanese students also use English on a daily basis, including when communicating with international students, who make up about 50% of the student body. This time, as a new initiative, we will introduce the “GRAB Program”, which allows students to learn English through this system as one of the
application qualifications for school recommendation-based selection. This system is being implemented by AIC Education Co., Ltd. (Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President and CEO: Katsumi Kuwabara, hereinafter referred to as AIC), which serves as the Japanese distributor and is mainly being implemented at the “Yoshujuku” cram school operated by the company. , we have achieved high learning effects such as improved English grades and passing the Practical English Proficiency Test (Eiken).
1. Program overview
(1) Name: Entrance exam connected learning program “Get Ready for APU English Boost Program (GRAB Program)”

(5) Contents: After applying, AI will judge the 4 skills of the student in an English proficiency assessment test. AI adjusts the difficulty of questions according to the student’s level and provides a personalized curriculum to overcome weaknesses.
2. Background of introduction
School recommendation selection is for those who have been recommended by the principal of their school and are applying to our university (guaranteeing admission if successful). We hope that applicants for this selection method will actively engage in academics and
extracurricular activities after admission through studying English in this program.
Additionally, in March 2024, APU conducted a survey of high schools across the country regarding school recommendation-based selection, with the aim of understanding high schools’ issues and awareness of issues related to school recommendation. As an issue for high schools, there were many high schools that reported a decline in study habits and motivation to study after passing the exam, and many requests for universities to implement pre-admission education. The “GET Test & Learning System” visualizes “study time”, “correct answer rate”, “English level”, etc., so we can collaborate with high schools as necessary to promote learning and improve learning at university. We will provide support to ensure a smooth transition.
